A brilliant new campaign has been launched by Environment Hamilton, asking Hamiltonians to pledge money towards two worthy causes: Transit tickets for those in need, and getting Councillors to ride the bus. Contributors can donate any amount to be divided evenly across 15 Councillors and the Mayor, or they can contribute in the name of a specific Council Member. The catch? The pledges will only be collected for Councillors who complete the goal. As of the date of this posting, some Councillors and the Mayor have agreed, others have rejected the idea, citing lack of transit access, others have refused simply on the grounds that transit is too inconvenient. So far over $4396 has been raised.
